Religious scholars support PM Imran’s lockdown strategy: Firdous Awan

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that religious scholars have strongly supported Prime Minister Imran Khan’s lockdown strategy.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad today (Monday), the Special Assistant further said, “We have to face and fight coronavirus. At the same time, we have to ensure that daily life continues to function. We, as a country, keep fighting the virus, unemployment, and hunger.”
Firdous Ashiq Awan further said that religious scholars have supported PM Imran’s stance to fight coronavirus, unemployment, and hunger.  
According to Fridous Awan, religious scholars appreciated PM Imran’s decision to reopen mosques during Ramazan, adding that they called his decision ‘Islam friendly’ and ‘humanity friendly’.
She informed that PM Imran after listening to the suggestions of religious scholars appealed to the nation to observe ‘Youm-e-Tauba’ (Day of Taubah) on Friday in order to seek forgiveness from Allah.
Firdous Awan also informed that PM Imran has agreed on the proposal by the participants of the delegation that religious places should also be given relaxation in utility bills.
In turn, PM Imran requested the ulema to ensure implementation of the 20-point strategy to follow during Ramazan announced by President Arif Alvi recently.
She said that PM Imran has issued directives to the concerned authorities for starting a Tele school-like television transmission for religious students.
Earlier today, a delegation of religious scholars called on Prime Minister Imran Khan and assured him of full cooperation to implement the precautionary measures issued by the government.
The delegation included Pir Aminul Hasanat Shah, Pir Shams-ul-Amin, Pir Naqib-ur-Rehman, Maulana Mohammad Hanif Jalandhari, Maulana Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, and others.
Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, Allama Shehenshah Hussain Naqvi, Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman, Mufti Taqi Usmani also attended the meeting through video link.
