THATTA: A tourist coach traveling from Karachi to Kenjhar Lake for sightseeing met with a severe accident on Sunday near Chatto Chand, leaving 20 people, including women and children, injured.
Preliminary reports and eyewitness accounts indicate the driver was traveling at excessive speed, causing the vehicle to overturn on the roadside.
Local residents immediately launched rescue operations, transporting the injured to the Civil Hospital in Thatta. However, the situation at the medical facility drew sharp criticism from relatives, who alleged a critical lack of emergency resources.
Family members stated that no Rescue 1122 ambulance was available at the hospital, forcing them to shift the most critically injured patients to Karachi via private vehicles.
“The injured were left waiting for medical attention for two hours, putting their lives at risk,” one relative alleged, highlighting severe lapses in the hospital administration and rescue services. While police officials confirmed that first aid was administered on-site and some patients were referred to Karachi due to the severity of their conditions, the delay in professional medical transport remains a point of contention.
A video circulating on social media appears to show the coach overturning due to high speed. Police have launched a formal investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause and hold the responsible parties accountable.
