The Prime Minister stated, “We pay tribute to the martyrs of the APS tragedy who sacrificed their precious lives for the future of the nation.”
He further added that this heartbreaking incident was a great trial for the entire nation, filling hearts with grief but failing to weaken the national spirit.
He emphasized that the sacrifices of innocent children, teachers, and staff are etched into the national memory, and the complete eradication of terrorism is the only true justice for this tragedy.
Findings of the Judicial Commission
It is worth noting that the Judicial Inquiry Commission report on the APS tragedy, made public five years ago (September 2020), identified significant security lapses.
The report highlighted that despite receiving threats, the number of security guards was insufficient, and they were not deployed at the correct positions.
The commission officially termed the horrific incident a “security failure.”
The report also noted that officers and personnel from the relevant units found guilty of negligence have been penalized.
