Historically, the International Day against Child Labor was founded by the International Labor Organization in 2002, since then the International Child Labor Day is celebrated under the United Nations. Every year International Day is celebrated under a new theme.
According to a conservative estimate, 16 million children around the world, including Pakistan, are forced to do hard labor due to domestic conditions and economic difficulties or due to other problems. The ages of these boys and girls victims of child labor are between 5 to 15 years.
Alarmingly, many children belong to poor families where they do not have access to education and adequate food. Children are forced to do hard labor under conditions of hunger and sometimes even starvation, which puts their lives at risk.
