Pakistan received $3.1 billion in remittances from overseas workers in the month of August 2025, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Friday.
This figure marks a 7% increase compared to $2.9 billion sent in August of the previous year. However, remittances declined slightly by 2% from July 2025, when the amount stood at $3.2 billion.
Among all countries, Pakistani expatriates in Saudi Arabia sent the highest remittances, totaling $737 million in August 2025. This amount was 11% lower than July’s remittances but still 3% higher than the $713 million recorded in the same month last year.
Remittance inflows from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) saw a notable 19% year-on-year rise, increasing from $538 million to $643 million.
From the United Kingdom, remittances amounted to $463 million in August 2025, up 3% compared to July’s $450 million. However, year-on-year inflows from the UK dropped by 2%.
Meanwhile, Pakistani workers in the United States sent $267 million during August, reflecting a 17% decline compared to the same month last year.
