Thursday, July 6, proved to be a shocking and sad day for Pakistan as Alamgir Khan Tareen, the brother of JDW Group CEO Jahangir Tareen, died after committing suicide.
The news was first broadcast on TV channels with sources mentioned and within a few minutes, it was officially confirmed that Tareen has committed suicide. Moreover, Jahangir Tareen got the news of his brother’s suicide during the party meeting.
Who was Alamgir Khan Tareen?
Besides being the brother of Jahangir Tareen, Alamgir Khan Tareen was a well-known businessman and the owner and managing director of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) team Multan Sultans.
He had established his name as a leading businessman in South Punjab. He was also the Managing Director of Shamim & Co. (Pvt.) Ltd., the official bottler and franchisee of PepsiCo for South Punjab.
Education
Alamgir Tareen Khan completed his bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley and later completed his master’s degree from the prestigious Yale University.
Suicide
According to family sources, Alamgir Tareen shot himself in the head with a pistol in Lahore.
He was in his apartment in the Gulberg area of Lahore at the time when he committed suicide.
Suicide note
According to police officials, Alamgir Tareen also left a note before committing suicide in which he mentioned his illness.
Alamgir Tareen was a 63 years old unmarried man who was engaged and set to marry this December.
