A special ring called a halo appeared around the sun in Sindh, especially in Karachi, on Saturday. People saw it and thought it was amazing.
Experts explained that this happens when the weather is about to change. They said it’s called a sun halo or a 22-degree halo. It happens because sunlight bends as it goes through tiny ice crystals in the air.
This kind of halo hadn’t been seen in Karachi for almost a year. The last time was on April 25, 2023. Halos usually show up near the sun or the moon.
According to a website called Atmospheric Optics, halos happen when light bounces off ice crystals and sometimes makes colors. When people see a halo, it often means rain is coming in the next day. That’s because the clouds that make halos can mean a storm is on the way.
Circular halos like this one are made by special clouds called cirrus clouds. These clouds are very high up in the sky, more than 2,000 feet above us.
