According to shopkeepers, prices of vegetables and fruits have risen by Rs100 to Rs150 per kilogram over the past two weeks, while the prices of fruit crates have increased by Rs1,000 to Rs2,000.
Shopkeepers said the price of pumpkin has risen from Rs150 to Rs200 per kg, cauliflower from Rs150 to Rs220, cabbage from Rs150 to Rs250, and fenugreek from Rs300 to Rs400 per kg.
Similarly, capsicum has increased from Rs300 to Rs350 per kg, onions from Rs120 to Rs200, and tomatoes from Rs200 to Rs250 per kg.
Regarding fruit prices, shopkeepers said a 6kg carton of peaches now costs Rs950. An apple crate has increased from Rs2,000 to Rs3,000, a mango crate from Rs3,000 to Rs5,000, and a grape crate from Rs4,500 to Rs5,000.
Shopkeepers further said that vegetables and fruits are being supplied to them at higher prices from the wholesale market, leaving them with little choice but to increase retail prices.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s annual consumer price inflation rate dropped to 9.20% in July 2026, down from 11.10% in June 2026. This latest reading from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics remains above the State Bank of Pakistan’s medium-term target range of 5% to 7%.
