RAWALPINDI: US diplomat Angela Aggeler called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters (GHQ) and discussed issues related to regional security and the Afghan peace process.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the US diplomat appreciated Pakistan’s contributions to conflict prevention in the region and the relentless support provided in the Afghan peace process.

“The American official also assured Islamabad of US continuous assistance for the common cause of peace in Afghanistan,” the military’s media wing added.
Angela Aggeler’s visit comes at a time when Prime Minister Imran Khan visited Afghanistan earlier in the day and held talks with President Ashraf Ghani that focused on deepening of bilateral ties and the intra-Afghan peace process.
Earlier this month, US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation, Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad had called on Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters (GHQ).
According to the ISPR, both of them discussed the regional security situation and the peace process besides also discussing Pakistan-Afghan border management and measures needed for lasting peace in the neighboring war-torn country.
