The Sydney Sixers, a premier franchise in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL), have introduced a unique jersey number for Pakistani star batter Babar Azam ahead of the upcoming season.
Regarded as one of the finest batters of the modern era, Babar Azam is set to represent the Sydney Sixers in the 15th season of the Big Bash League.

The decision to alter the jersey number follows the franchise’s signing of Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc earlier this month.
Since Starc already owns the number 56 jersey, the franchise has creatively introduced the unique number ‘056’ for Babar Azam.
This allows the Pakistani star to retain his association with the number while avoiding a conflict with his teammate.
The franchise officially announced the news by sharing a video on their Instagram page, where Babar Azam can be seen wearing the distinct ‘056’ kit.
In addition to the jersey reveal, the Sydney Sixers are gearing up for a grand reception for the batter.
In October, the franchise announced the launch of a special fan zone titled ‘Babaristan,’ dedicated exclusively to welcoming Babar Azam and engaging his massive fanbase during the tournament.
