The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has changed its rules to let people who are sponsored by their family members work in the country, as reported by Aaj News on Tuesday.
Now, under the new rules, dependents like spouses who are living in the UAE under their partner’s sponsorship can look for jobs while still being sponsored by their family.
These changes were made according to certain laws like Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, Cabinet Resolution No. 1 of 2022, and Administrative Resolution No. 38 of 2022. These laws lay down the rules for how the new regulations will work.
Previously, people like housewives who were sponsored by their families were not allowed to work. But now, they can be a part of the UAE’s job market.
According to Article 6(1)(c) of Cabinet Resolution No. 1 of 2022, a woman who is sponsored by her husband can now work in the UAE.
These new rules mean that sponsored individuals can now get a work permit and work in places registered with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE).
These changes give more options to families living in the UAE. Expatriates can keep their current sponsorship and still have a job in the country.
This decision by the UAE shows that they want to have a society where everyone can take part and help the country grow.
Allowing people with dependent visas to work has been praised because it will bring in skilled workers and boost business in different fields.
Government officials and experts say it’s important to follow the right procedures and rules.
To get a work permit, people sponsored by their families need to meet certain requirements. These include providing a clear photo with a white background, a passport with at least six months left on it, a copy of a valid UAE residency visa, an approved work contract from the MoHRE, and any needed academic certificates that are notarized and attested.
