Two women among four killed in firing over land dispute in Bannu

Four people, including two women, were killed and two others injured when rival groups exchanged fire over a land dispute in Baka Khel, Bannu District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Wednesday.

According to police, the incident occurred in a mountainous area within the Baka Khel police jurisdiction after the groups confronted each other over the use of a road. The dispute escalated into an armed clash, resulting in multiple casualties.

Police said three people from one group, two women identified as Ms A and Ms M, and a man, Muhammad Azim, were killed in the firing. Nafid, from the opposing group, was also killed. Two others, Awal Khan and Majidullah, sustained injuries and were shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Sub-Division Wazir DSP Hafeez ur Rehman reached the scene with a police contingent after receiving information about the incident. Police cordoned off the area and began collecting evidence.

Separate cases were registered against both groups on the complaints of their respective sides. Further investigation is under way to establish the circumstances and identify those responsible.

The incident comes after a similar land dispute in Domel in June, when four people were killed in firing.

Police have arrested a 70-year-old man for allegedly attempting to marry a 14-year-old deaf and non-speaking girl in Jaganat village, within the jurisdiction of Chota Lahor City Police Station. Police said an FIR had been registered against the suspect, identified as Habibur Rehman, a resident of Chota Lahor city, and an investigation was under way.
