JACOBABAD: Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Ajaz Jakhrani has strongly protested a police raid on the Karachi residence of his late father, Babal Khan Jakhrani, and called for a high-level inquiry into the incident. Meanwhile, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Faryal Talpur has taken notice of the raid and sought a report from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh.
In a video statement released late at night, Ajaz Jakhrani alleged that the police action violated the sanctity and privacy of his father’s home, where women were also present. He said the residence belonged to his father and was also his home, adding that the presence of women made the matter particularly sensitive.
Ajaz Jakhrani clarified that he had already distanced himself from his younger half-brother, Azad Jakhrani. He explained that parliamentary commitments and other engagements had prevented him from contacting the relevant authorities earlier. However, he said he later contacted Faryal Talpur, the provincial home minister and the IGP Sindh to convey his concerns over the police operation.
The MNA demanded that the police officers and personnel responsible for the raid be identified and held accountable. He called for a transparent investigation, adding that any violation of the law or established procedures by police officials should be dealt with accordingly.
Faryal Talpur Takes Notice, Seeks Report from IGP Sindh
Separately, Faryal Talpur took notice of the police raid on the residence of the late MNA Babal Khan Jakhrani and directed that the incident be thoroughly investigated. She sought a report from the IGP Sindh and stressed the need to establish the facts by examining all aspects of the operation.
Talpur said injustice against any citizen would not be tolerated and emphasised that the sanctity and privacy of homes must be respected. She called for a fair and impartial inquiry and urged all concerned to avoid dragging personal grievances into political affairs.
She further stressed that the matter should be resolved in accordance with the law and the principles of justice to ensure that no party was treated unfairly.
