Two suspects in Rs220 million Karachi robbery arrested from Lahore

Two suspects allegedly involved in a Rs220 million robbery in Karachi have been arrested from Lahore.

According to the spokesperson for the DIG Operations, suspect Mehtab and his relative Abdul Rehman were arrested in Jhang.

The arrested suspect, Mehtab, has 18 cases of theft and burglary registered against him.

According to the spokesperson, the suspect was involved in the theft of Rs220 million in Karachi’s Saddar area in April.

The suspects were also allegedly involved in theft incidents in Jhang, Faisalabad and Rahim Yar Khan.

The DIG Operations spokesperson said a 9mm pistol and ammunition were also recovered from Abdul Rehman.

Stolen goods related to a theft case registered at Islamabad’s Ramna police station were also recovered from the suspects.

Earlier, a Banking Court in Lahore has sentenced four convicts to 30 years in prison each after finding them guilty in a bank fraud case.

According to the court, the accused were charged with causing a loss of Rs59.8 million to a private bank through illegal fund transfers.

The Banking Court sentenced accused Qasim Raza to 30 years in prison and fined him Rs7.39 million, while banking agent Jahangzeb was sentenced to 30 years in prison and fined Rs15.2 million.

The court sentenced Mehran to 30 years in prison and fined him Rs1.36 million, while Haris Abbasi was sentenced to 30 years in prison and fined Rs10 million.

In its verdict, the court said that if the convicts fail to pay the fines, they will have to serve an additional seven and a half years in prison.

Pakistan Customs has recovered electronic goods worth millions of rupees from the luggage of a passenger arriving from Dubai at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi. According to customs officials, the luggage of a passenger travelling on Flydubai flight FZ335 was scanned on suspicion, during which suspicious items were detected. The luggage was subsequently moved to the red channel for a detailed search. During the search, officials recovered 29 cameras and five camera lenses, along with other electronic items, including 10 fitness bands.
