Two Pakistan Army personnel were martyred in a militant attack in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while security forces killed five militants in a retaliatory operation, according to the military’s media wing.
ISPR stated that the incident occurred during an intelligence-based operation.
Militants attempted to target a security convoy using a vehicle-borne suicide attack, but troops responded in time and thwarted their plans.
During an intense exchange of fire, the attackers rammed their explosive-laden vehicle into a security forces’ vehicle. As a result, Lieutenant Colonel Shehzada Gul Faraz and Sepoy Karamat Shah embraced martyrdom while fighting bravely, the statement said.
The spokesperson added that militants described as “Fitna al-Khawarij” were continuing to use Afghan soil to carry out operations, even during the holy month of Ramadan, and alleged that the Afghan Taliban authorities had failed to prevent such activities.
According to ISPR, operations against militants will continue without discrimination, and under the Azm-e-Istehkam campaign, efforts will persist until terrorism is completely eradicated from the country.
