An 8-year-old girl’s body was recovered on Friday from a garbage dump in Muslim Abad area of Karachi.
The body was discovered on a construction site near Mengal School in the Muslimabad colony of Landhi.
Locals from all over the area gathered there to express their outrage at the unfortunate incident.
According to details, the body was shifted to Karachi’s Jinnah Hospital where she was identified as Muneeba who went missing a day earlier. Hospital sources said that the victim was allegedly tortured, raped before being killed.
Police surgeon said that torture marks were found on the slain girl’s body.
“The postmortem findings are suggestive of asphyxia (strangulation) as the cause of death, however, visceral samples have been preserved for toxicological screening.”
SSP Malir Irfan Bahadur and SSP Investigation visited the crime scene and formed a team for the investigation. The crime forensics team and the authorities have collected evidence from the crime scene.
They expressed suspicions that the minor girl was tortured to death and later his body was thrown to the ground. They added that a thorough probe will ascertain the facts and motives of the gruesome murder of Muneeba.
“CCTV footage is being obtained from the residence of the murdered girl and around the crime scene.” police said.
SSP Malir assured the family that suspects would be arrested soon. Further investigation is underway.
