ISLAMABAD: Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) led by chief Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi, has announced to continue a sit-in in Faizabad until the expulsion of the French ambassador from the country.
According to details, around 13000-14000 protesters have reached Faizabad Interchange. DIG Operations Waqaruddin Syed has also reached Islamabad zero point with a heavy contingent of policemen.
Moreover, the mainstream media and internet services have been blocked in different areas of Rawalpindi and there is traffic congestion being reported as containers have been placed along several roads including the entry and exit points to Islamabad.
The traffic from Bahria Town/DHA heading towards Islamabad Expressway is completely blocked while traffic from Murree towards Peshawar is also at a complete halt.
Clashes between police and TLP supporters were also reported. Sources have informed that two policemen were seriously injured and were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The protesters are chanting slogans against the French president and castigated the publication of blasphemous caricatures in France.
The protest was organized to condemn French President Emmanuel Macron’s act of defending the publication of blasphemous sketches of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W).
