Canadian singer The Weeknd met and hugged South Korean K-pop band Blackpink’s Jennie at Cannes 2023.
Both met at the premiere of ‘The Idol’ at Cannes 2023. At the premiere, The Weeknd can be seen going and personally hugging the Blackpink singer, leaving their fans in awe.
Jennie is set to make her acting debut in The Weeknd’s show ‘The Idol’. This project not only marks her acting debut but also her first Hollywood gig.

Moreover, during the premiere, Lily-Rose Depp also arrived at the Cannes Film Festival. Depp and The Weeknd star in the series which sees an aspiring pop star begin a complicated relationship with a self-help guru and contemporary cult leader following a nervous breakdown.
The HBO series was created by Tesfaye and is his acting debut, helmed by Euphoria director Sam Levinson. It also stars Australian singer-songwriter Troye Sivan and actress Rachel Sennott.
The Idol received a five-minute standing ovation following the screening of its first two episodes, which featured “raunchy intrigue” and multiple explicit moments, according to US outlets who attended.
