KARACHI: A 17-year-old youth who jumped into the Sohrab Goth river to save a drowning child has lost his life, while the search for the child is still underway.
The heartbreaking incident took place in the Sohrab Goth river located in the Al-Asif, Gulzar-e-Hijri area of Karachi.

According to a spokesperson for Rescue 1122, as soon as information was received by the Central Command and Control, a water rescue vehicle along with divers and an ambulance were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Police officials said the youth has been identified as 17-year-old Gulab. According to initial details, the 4-year-old child had fallen into the river while riding a bicycle, after which Gulab jumped into the water in an attempt to save him.
Rescue teams have recovered the body of the youth. The search operation for the 4-year-old child, identified as Chavez, is ongoing.
Later, Deputy Commissioner Central Taha Saleem also reached the spot. Speaking on the occasion, he said that while the location of the incident falls within the jurisdiction of District East, rescue work has been initiated by his administration and the entire team is active in the search for the child.
