A disturbing incident at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Pattoki has highlighted critical flaws in Punjab’s healthcare system.
A video circulating online reveals a sweeper performing medical procedures, such as stitching wounds and dressing injuries, in the absence of qualified emergency staff. The footage shows the sweeper, Abid, attending to a female patient, underscoring the dire state of the hospital’s emergency services.
The video has sparked widespread outrage, with many criticizing the hospital for its lack of essential medical supplies and the unavailability of trained staff. Despite substantial funding allocated to the facility, residents are voicing frustration over the mismanagement and inadequate resources plaguing the hospital.
Citizens of Pattoki and nearby areas have called on Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to take immediate action and hold those responsible for this alarming situation accountable.
This incident follows another tragic case at Lahore’s Gangaram Hospital, where a young infant girl suffered severe burns, allegedly due to staff negligence, further emphasizing the urgent need for systemic reforms in the region’s healthcare sector.
