ISLAMABAD: The ‘Surprise Day’ is being celebrated across the nation today as it marks a year to Pakistan shooting down two Indian jets.
On this day, Pakistan and India fought in an aerial dogfight after two Indian jets violated the airspace of Pakistan on Line Of Control (LoC) and in return, Pakistan shot down its two Indian jets.
During that operation, the Indian pilot Abhinandan Varthaman was also arrested by the forces after his Mig-21 was shot down. The pilot was later handed over to Indian authorities as a goodwill gesture.
In this victory achieved by Pakistan, the government named this day the surprise day to remember the achievement against India. In order to celebrate the Surprise Day, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is scheduled to hold an air show at the sea view today.
Meanwhile, the Lahore Arts Council will hold an exhibition and a short clip on how the PAF shot down Indian jets which will continue till tomorrow.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will also address the nation today in this regard today.
