ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser has directed to arrange the National Assembly meetings through video conferencing in view of the threat of COVID-19’s spread.
A press release issued on Saturday stated, “The decision of the Speaker came in order to initially establish the non-legislative business of the National Assembly operative again.”
Through this decision, the Standing Committees, Public Accounts Committee, Parliamentary and Special Committees would be facilitated via video conferencing.
“The Information Technology (IT) Wing of the National Assembly Secretariat has been mandated to provide video conferencing facilities in committee rooms of the Parliament house,” the statement added.
Since last month, the National Assembly and Senate committee sessions have been remained suspended. Moreover, the meetings of all the committees of the parliamentary systems were cancelled by Asad Qaiser because of the outbreak of coronavirus in the country.
Earlier this week, Asad Qaiser appealed to all the religious scholars to support the government in the fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic.  He appealed to the religious scholars to cooperate with the government in containing the spread of the COVID-19.
