South Korean singer-songwriter Jeong Sewoon is set to begin his mandatory military service later this month, confirmed by his agency CAMWUS.
In an official statement, CAMWUS said Jeong Sewoon will enlist as an active-duty soldier in the Republic of Korea Army on June 23 to fulfill his national service obligations.
The agency expressed gratitude to fans, known as “LUCKY,” for their continued support and affection for the artist.
The agency further said that, in line with Jeong Sewoon’s personal wishes, the exact time and location of his enlistment will not be disclosed, and no official farewell event will be held on the day. It added that the enlistment ceremony is a private occasion attended by fellow recruits and their families, requesting fans to refrain from visiting the site.
CAMWUS also informed fans that letters of support may be sent through the same method previously announced via Jeong Sewoon’s official fan cafe, and all messages will be delivered to him during his service period.
Jeong Sewoon, known for his soft vocal style and singer-songwriter appeal, rose to fame after appearing on the survival show K-pop Star 3 and later Produce 101 Season 2. He made his official debut in 2017 and has since released multiple albums and singles, earning recognition for tracks such as “Just U” and “20 Something.”
In South Korea, mandatory military service typically lasts between 18 to 21 months, depending on the branch of assignment.
