Netflix’s newly released spine-chilling horror movie ‘Sister Death’ just in time for Halloween.
Besides exploring a classic horror-movie archetype, scary nuns and twisty ghost story, the movie is a prequel to the 2017 Spanish movie ‘Verónica’, one of the best horror movies on Netflix.
Sister Death
Sister Death explores the origins of Verónica’s terrifying teacher, Sister Narcisa AKA Sister Death. Set in post-war Spain, Aria Bedmar plays the young novice as she moves into a convent to work as a teacher and take the last step to becoming a nun.
While dealing with her doubts about her own faith, Sister Narcisa uncovers some deep-buried secrets that have turned the convent into a ghostly place. Sister Narcisa realizes something is not right, despite her best efforts to deny it, and starts investigating.

How both movies are connected?
‘Bodies’: Is Netflix’s time-hopping series returning for season 2?
As we mentioned above, Sister Death is a prequel to Verónica or rather an origin story for the character of Sister Narcisa.
In fact, it’s Verónica and her classmates at a 1991’s Vallecas high school who give her the nickname Sister Death because of her terrifying presence.
At the end of Sister Death, the story jumps forward in time to show how Sister Narcisa started teaching in Madrid. Actress Sandra Escacena briefly returns to the role of Verónica, who is seated in the classroom looking scared to death by this new teacher.
That’s the end of Sister Death, which directly connects both movies — albeit their stories are mostly independent from each other — and foreshadows the disturbing events to come. Both movies are also connected by an eclipse, which is an important moment in each story.
‘Sister Death’ and ‘Veronica’ are streaming on Netflix.
