RAHIM YAR KHAN: Eyewitnesses said on Thursday that short circuiting in one of the bogies caused Tezgam Express fire.
According to sources, people felt burning smell in Bogie no. 12 on Wednesday night. They even informed the concerned persons to look into the matter. However, no action was taken. When the fire erupted, passengers jumped from the moving train to save their lives.
Earlier, federal minister for Railways, Sheikh Rasheed said that government has announced compensation money for the victims of Tezgam Express fire. The government will be giving Rs. 1.5 million to the families of deceased of the incident whereas Rs. 0.5 million will be given to the injured.
Prime Minister Imran Khan also ordered concerned authorities to provide the best medical facilities to the affectees of Tezgam Express accident. While expressing great sadness, premier Imran Khan extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and injured passengers.
