ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for SAFRON and Narcotics Shehryar Khan Afridi has been appointed as the chairman of the Parliamentary Special Committee on Kashmir Affairs.
Shehryar Khan Afridi has replaced outgoing chairman Syed Fakhar Imam who has been heading the committee since 2019. Imam has been given the responsibility of the Minister for National Food Security in a recent reshuffle in the
A notification in this regard, has also been issued. Afridi is currently serving as the Minister of State for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) and Narcotics Control.
Shehryar Khan Afridi served as the Minister of State for Interior from 31st August 2018 to 18th April 2019. He has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since August 2018.
He was recently reappointed by Prime Minister Imran Khan as the Minister of State for Narcotics Control. The premier had taken back the portfolio from Afridi in a cabinet meeting following the wheat and sugar crisis report but he was was reappointed.
