ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi on Thursday administered the oath of office to Senator Musadik Malik as Minister of State.
The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr and was attended by parliamentarians and senior government officials. Belonging to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Senator Musadik Malik joined the cabinet in the fourth phase of its formation. He has earlier served as PM House spokesperson.
Malik was inducted into the federal cabinet of caretaker Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso on April 3, 2013 and appointed as Federal Minister for Water and Power.
In November 2014, Malik was appointed as spokesperson for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. In August 2017, he was appointed as Special Assistant to Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on media affairs.
Malik was elected to the Senate of Pakistan as an independent candidate on general seat from Punjab in Senate election in 2018. He was given the status of federal minister in the cabinet of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
A day earlier, President Dr Arif Alvi administered the oath of office to Chairperson of Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as the federal minister.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif witnessed the oath-taking ceremony here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, which was attended by former president Asif Ali Zardari, ex-prime ministers Yousuf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, and a large number of parliamentarians, party workers, and government officials.
The close family members of Bilawal Bhutto including his sister Aseefa Bhutto and maternal aunt Sanam Bhutto – the sister of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, also attended the ceremony.
The new cabinet reflects the political mix of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Pakistan Muslim League-Q and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
