Violence erupted in the Indian state of Palamu of Jharkhand ahead of Mahashivratri celebrations.
According to the details, there was a dispute at the Turan Gate installed for Maha Shivratri in the Panki Bazar area of Palamu and severe stone pelting by both sides.
A heavy police force has been deployed to take care of the situation and Section 144 has been imposed in the area. About one dozen people are reported injured by then.
The home department of the state government has ordered to keep the internet off till 4 pm today. During the worst incident of violence, stones were also pelted at the mosque, after which the police closed Pinki Bazaar completely. Reports of petrol bomb attacks could not be confirmed.
Militants set fire to shops outside the mosque, prompting the Jharkhand government to deploy a heavy police force. SP Chandan Sinha and DC Ingenio Ludode reached the spot and took stock of the situation. Officials say that the situation is under control. As a result of the incident, several people were injured.
Extremism continues to grow in India. As a result of the dispute, both parties burnt the shops outside the mosque and pelted stones at the mosque, however, no serious reaction was received from the mosque administration or the local Muslims in this regard.
