Secretary health Sindh pays surprise visit to Karachi’s hospitals

KARACHI: Secretary Health Sindh Zahid Ali Abbasi directed the hospital’s administration in Karachi to provide all possible medical facilities to the affected people and the provincial government will bear all expenses.

As per details, Abbasi paid surprise visit at Karachi’s different hospitals to enquire about the health of people who fell ill after inhaling poisonous gas in the Keamari area.

On this occasion, secretary health was briefed that several people were brought to different hospitals and many of them were discharged.

On the instructions of Minister Health Dr Azra Pechuho, Secretary Health enquired about the facilities being provided to the patients.

Secretary Health Sindh has already declared an emergency in District South’s hospitals besides other major hospitals in the metropolis. Secretary Health Sindh directed the administration of the hospitals to ensure the availability of doctors, nurses, paramedics and life-saving drugs.

during a visit to Ziauddin Hospital, Senior Manager PR & Communications Ziauddin Hospital briefed Abbasi that since last night the hospital has received more than 200 patients of inhaling poisonous gas. He added as per Dr Asim Hussain’s directives, we are providing free treatment to those who are needy.

Today, two more people were fell prey to a ‘poisonous gas’ in the Keamari area of the metropolis in the wee hours of Tuesday, taking the death toll to eight.
According to sources, the two victims of the poisonous gas were identified as a 60-year-old Imran and a 40-year-old Yousaf. The bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.
Sources said on Monday over 11 other people were brought to KPT and Ziauddin Hospitals with severe breathing problems.  It further stated that local people of the area in Keamari kept face masks on for the entire day on Monday. Also, schools in the locality remained closed and people stayed indoors.
