KARACHI: The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has failed to control illegal construction in the city, as the land mafia is continuously constructing an illegal structure in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town.

According to details, SBCA Director had issued a notification to the builders in July to stop constructing an illegal structure on Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 2 Plot No. A-299 and Block 2 Plot No. A-295.

The notice clearly stated that the plot was not regulated and construction on it was illegal under building control resolutions. The building authority directed the builders to stop the construction immediately and demolish the remaining structure.

However, relevant sources revealed that the Assistant Director and the Inspectors had allowed the construction on the said plots while receiving massive underhand payments.

Local residents, political and social personalities identified, and lodged complaints to no avail. They have urged SBCA Director-General to taken swift against all illegal constructions in the city.
