KARACHI: Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has dismissed 95 officers, working on the Own Pay Scale (OPS), from their posts due to the unavailability of officers.
As per details, SBCA has abolished OPS for the fourth time and directed the Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors, and Senior Building Inspectors to work in their original posts. A circular in this regard has been issued.
According to the notification, “It has been reported that mostly the Senior Building Inspectors (BS-16) are still enjoying their identity as Assistant Directors of Buildings (BS-17) while inspecting their jurisdiction.”
“It is informed to all concerned Senior Building Inspectors, Assistant Directors earlier working as Assistant Director and Deputy Directors on Own Pay and Scale, stands reported to their original posts,” read the notification.
Relevant sources informed that the vacant post will be offered to members belonging to other districts rather than Karachi. It is worth mentioning here that due to the non-promotion of local employees, 95 employees were working on the next posts on OPS.
The vacant posts include 4 for Directors, 40 for Deputy Directors, and 50 for Assistant Directors. Four Senior Directors, including 2 Additional Director-Generals, will retire this year.
Relevant sources informed that the OPS strategy was abolished due to the influence of Acting Director-General Naseem Ghani Saito. Sources further informed that the Acting Director-General also wants demotion of senior officers instead of promotions.
