ISLAMABAD: A “state-of-the-art skill university” will be established by Saudi Arabia in Pakistan in order to supply the trained labor needed for future developments in the Kingdom, APP reported on Monday.
According to a report by the state-run APP news agency, the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development is set to propose the allocation of a dedicated quota for skilled and semi-skilled Pakistani workers in NEOM and other forthcoming projects.
In a bid to strengthen economic ties, there is a proposal for Saudi Arabia to establish a state-of-the-art skill university in Pakistan, fostering mutual cooperation between the two nations.
The report highlights discussions revolving around training Pakistani workers to meet the increasing demands of the Saudi labor market, emphasizing the enhancement of their skills and capabilities.
To facilitate the entry of new Overseas Employment Promoters (OEPs) into the Saudi sector, collaborative efforts between the Embassy of KSA in Islamabad, the Consulate General (CG) Karachi, and Pakistani authorities have been proposed by the Ministry.
The visit of a high-level delegation aims to synchronize Pakistan’s workforce with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 economic transformation program, paving the way for a robust partnership for mutual gains.
Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia’s strategic development framework, aims to diversify the Kingdom’s economy away from oil dependency, focusing on sectors such as health, education, infrastructure, recreation, and tourism.
Additionally, the visit seeks to bolster crucial remittances, vital for Pakistan’s economic stability and the welfare of families reliant on these financial inflows.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share strong trade, defense, and fraternal ties, with the Kingdom being the primary destination for remittances from over 2.7 million Pakistani expatriates, thus playing a significant role in Pakistan’s economy.
