It’s almost mid- June but the federal government is still stuck in the events of May 9, and rubbing salt into the nation’s wounds.
Alive and thriving nations always remember their triumphs, learn from the difficult past, and go forward. However, this is not the case with the federal government, which is currently actively publicizing the May 9 tragedy.
There are many reasons why what occurred on May 9 is very saddening. Reiterating the same narrative does feel pretty tiresome, even when all the elegies and sorrowful tales already written about the tragic incident may not be sufficient.
The administration has solid evidence against the miscreants who allegedly defied the state’s authority on May 9 according to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s statement from yesterday. He promised to punish the offenders severely.
Imran Khan, the leader of the Tehreek-e-Insaf, is accused of widespread corruption, according to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. For four years, the previous administration targeted the opposition. However, the opposition, which is the current administration, did not assault the government’s institutions.
It is believed that either the judiciary is not assisting the administration in taking effective action against the wicked forces, or the government itself does not wish to do so. It is still unclear whether the establishment is in favour of it or not, but based on the army chief’s words, it appears that the army and the government is on the same page.
The entire country is embarrassed for the martyrs’ families because, in the wake of the events of May 9, anyone will be compelled to consider that his statue or picture might be desecrated after giving his life in defence of the country.
The severity of the problem means that it would not have received media attention if it had occurred twenty-five or thirty years ago.
It’s interesting to note that some media outlets continue to adhere to the stringent limits imposed by the current administration while also making an effort to appear as though they are broadcasting the same content as the government wants them to do so.
Although there were controls on the media in earlier times, they didn’t promote evil as they do now. Is it possible for someone with a good heart to believe that the families of the martyrs should always be subjected to the May 9 incident in our media?
It is necessary that the evildoers responsible for the incident should be punished, but media should refrain from bringing up this occurrence frequently so that the families of the martyrs might eventually forget their deep sorrow.
