ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Interior has extended the deadline for applications to the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) recruitment drive until May 11, 2026, as the process continues to draw an unprecedented response nationwide.
According to official figures, more than 600,000 candidates have applied for the FIA’s 1,394 vacancies across various cadres, ranging from Assistant (BS‑15) to Lower Division Clerk (BS‑11). Each applicant deposited a Rs2,000 challan fee, resulting in a cumulative inflow of Rs. 1.2 billion into the government treasury by Friday.
Officials expect the figure to rise further in the coming days as thousands more submit applications before the extended deadline. The recruitment exercise has underscored the intense demand for public‑sector employment in Pakistan, where competition for limited posts often runs into hundreds of thousands.
Observers note that while the financial inflows from application fees bolster the exchequer, the sheer scale of applicants highlights the employment pressures facing young graduates and job‑seekers. For many, securing a government post remains a matter of chance amid overwhelming odds.
