Lawyer Jibran Nasir has made several serious claims during a press conference regarding the Mir Raza murder case, alleging that the victim’s body was damaged with acid and expressing suspicion that he may also have been forced to consume acid.
Nasir said that, according to the information available to him, Mir Raza was alive until the evening of July 28 and was allegedly subjected to around 12 hours of torture while being held captive before his murder.
He claimed that the suspects had detailed knowledge of the locations where CCTV cameras were absent, where Mir Raza was to be abducted from, and where his body was to be left.
The lawyer questioned how it could be assumed that Mir Raza had emptied his own bank accounts or that his mobile phone had been hacked on its own.
Nasir further claimed that on the day of Mir Raza’s Soyem ceremony, his smartwatch was requested. He also alleged that a senior police officer kept an important piece of evidence in his possession for eight days.
He said that Section 201 had also been included in the case, which relates to causing evidence of an offence to disappear or concealing evidence.
The lawyer also alleged that an officer who had been posted in Kashmir before the incident was included in the investigation team and had not yet returned. He raised questions over the manner in which the investigation was being conducted.
Jibran Nasir called for departmental action against the relevant police officers who, he alleged, were responsible for overlooking or disregarding evidence in the Mir Raza case.
