All public and private banks in Pakistan are all set to deduct Zakat amount from Savings and other similarly accounts in upcoming Islamic month of Ramadan 2026.

The federal government used to announce minimum threshold or Nisab for Zakat deduction every year after analyzing various factors.

Nisab is the minimum amount of wealth an individual must possess to be required to give this charitable donation.

Last year, the Nisab amount was fixed at Rs179,689 with banks deducting 2.5 percent in wake of Zakat applied to balances in accounts exceeding the threshold.

Which accounts are exempted?

All Savings and PLS accounts with less than the Nisab amount will be exempted from Zakat deduction.

Zakat deduction date

All banks in Pakistan deduct Zakat on the first day of Ramadan, likely February 19 or 20, 2026.

If Shaban lasts for 29 days, the first day of Ramadan will fall on February 19, 2026. However, if Shaban spans 30 days, Ramadan will begin on February 20, 2026.
