Given the fall in prices of petroleum products, the Punjab government on Wednesday announced a new set of cut tariffs for public transport in the province.
At a news conference on Wednesday, Azma Bukhari, the Minister of Information for Punjab, revealed the discounts, which, depending on the route, ranged from Rs20 to Rs190. The Lahore-Karachi route has had the largest fare reduction, of Rs 190.
Moreover, reductions of Rs. 50 on the Lahore-Peshawar route and Rs. 20 on the Lahore-Rawalpindi route were announced. The bus stops have already been displaying the revised fare lists in Punjab.
In reaction to declining gas costs, transportation fares have been lowered for the seventh time in a row.
The federal government reduced the price of gasoline on September 30 by Rs 2.7 per liter, resulting in a new price of Rs 247.03. This was followed by fare reductions. Prices for kerosene and diesel were also lowered.
