ISLAMABAD: The Secretary General of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Asad Umar has been arrested from Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday, a day after his party Chairman Imran Khan was arrested by Rangers from inside the same court.
According to details gathered by MM News, Asad Umar had been detained by Anti-Terrorist Squad from the Islamabad High Court, moments after he had meeting with lawyers at Islamabad Bar.

Asad Umar now becomes the second prominent member of the PTI to be detained by authorities.

Reports suggest Asad Umar and other top leaders of the PTI were booked in different cases across Islamabad on charges of staging protest demonstrations on Tuesday. These cases were registered in Tirnol and Aabpara police stations.
Lawyer Babar Awan told media that Asad Umar had already secured protective bail, yet he was arrested in blatant violation of relevant laws.
There are also reports suggesting that Islamabad Police tried to arrest Sham Mahmood Qureshi, but the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan intervened and took Shah Mahmood Qureshi with him in his car.
Earlier today, former governor Punjab Omar Sarfraz Cheema was detained from his house by Anti-Corruption Establishment during the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
