ISLAMABAD: The PTI government has made last ditch attempts to woo disgruntled allies including Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P).
A PTI delegation led by Shah Mahmood Qureshi along with Asad Umar and Pervaiz Khattak held a meeting with MQM-P on Friday.. During the meeting, Qureshi conveyed the important message of Prime Minister Imran Khan to the MQM-P leadership. The meeting was also attended by federal ministers Farogh Naseem, Aminul Haque and MQM-P leader Javed Hanif.
Speaking to private channel, Qureshi said they brought a goodwill message to MQM-P to be together as they are an ally. He said the meeting was held in a conducive environment. Qureshi said that the MQM-P delegation has clearly told them that they have not made any commitment with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) which was giving false statement.
Earlier, Federal Minister for Information Technology Aminul Haque said that MQM is still part of the federal government and any decision will be taken after consultation with our constituents and activists of the party.
While speaking to the media after arriving for the National Assembly session, Aminul Haque said that the MQM-P is still part of the government. “We are engaging with opposition and treasury for talks and any decision will be taken after consultation with our constituents and activists,” he said.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi along with Defence Minister Pervez Khattak will also meet Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervez Elahi in Lahore tomorrow on Saturday.
The meeting was scheduled in a telephonic conversation between Qureshi and Chaudhry Pervez Elahi during which they discussed the ongoing political scenario. Qureshi will convey an important message of Prime Minister Imran Khan to the Chaudhry Brothers.
The PML-Q is yet to take a clear stance over the upcoming motion of no-confidence. The motion is expected to be put to vote on March 28. A session of the National Assembly was adjourned on Friday without the resolution being tabled.
