LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the party has expectations from the newly-appointed Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi appeared in court today regarding his case over the May 9 riots. He has been asked to appear again on September 1.
Speaking to media after his appearance, Qureshi said the PTI has high expectations from the caretaker prime minister.
He said caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar is not the choice of PPP and PML-N. Instead, he said the former coalition allies had agreed on Dr Abdul Malik’s name for the post.
Qureshi said the PTI has expectations from the caretaker prime minister and he should form a neutral cabinet. He said the PTI hopes the election will be free and fair.
He said the PTI will have a core committee today and deliberate on the political situation. He expressed concern over rising tension in political parties.
It depends on the caretaker prime minister how he will do justice, he said. The women who are under detention should be released, he added.
He said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan has the right to be given facilities in jail and be allowed to meet his lawyers.
