At a time when foreign cricketers are present in Karachi for Pakistan Super League’s eighth edition (PSL 8) the terrorists attacked the Karachi police chief’s office, situated on Shahrah-e- Faisal.
As per media reports, at least 10 terrorists including suicide bombers entered in the Karachi police head office after heavy firing and attacking with hand grenades.
Till the writing of this editorial at 10pm on Friday, It was reported that the security forces had gunned down two attackers while other terrorists were present in the building. Two casualties of police officers also reported.
In the view of PSL 8, it can be said that this is a well planed attack to sabotage this important cricket event. In the past too, enemies of the country have done such kind of terrorist attacks on foreign crickets inorder to prove that Pakistan is not safe for them. As a result Pakistan’s cricket suffered a lot as for a long time international cricketers refused to come to Pakistan for matches.
The credit of restoration of international cricket in the country goes to PSL, that is why the enemies of the country want to sabotage it by terrorist attack in Karachi as eight matches of the tournament are scheduled to be held in the city.
Cancellation or transfer of the tournament to Dubai will be a big setback for the country, that is why the government should use all its energy to provide foolproof security to PSL 8 and ensure its peaceful and successful completion as per the schedule.
