ISTANBUL: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will address the joint sitting of parliament today.
This will be the fourth time that Recep Tayyip Erdogan would address the Pakistani parliament.
The Turkish president arrived in Pakistan yesterday on a two-day visit. Prime Minister Imran Khan received him and his wife Emine Erdoğan at Noor Khan Airbase.
The prime minister was accompanied by the federal Cabinet members. He personally drove the Turkish president and his wife from the airport to the Prime Minister’s House. A guard of honour was presented to the Erdogan upon arrival.
Erdogan, on the other hand, was accompanied by a delegation of Turkish businessmen. Erdogan also met his President, Dr. Arif Alvi, in the evening on Thursday where both leaders agreed to extend mutual support on issues of each other’s core national interest.
They also underscored the importance of fully realising the immense potential of the relationship between the two countries. They also underlined in transforming these relations into a strong and dynamic trade and economic partnership.
His visit was first decided in October last year but was delayed due to the military operation that took place in Syria.
Erodgan last visited Pakistan in 2016, during the PML-N-led government, during which he also addressed the parliament. He was accompanied by his wife Emine and a high-level delegation.
