ISLAMABAD: President Arif Alvi has excused himself from administrating oaths to the federal cabinet members, following which the ceremony has been postponed.
The federal cabinet that was scheduled to take oath today has been postponed after an the president excused himself. According to reports, the The new cabinet is likely to take oath now on Tuesday or Wednesday.
In the absence of President Alvi, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani could administer oath to members of the federal cabinet. The federal cabinet was scheduled to be sworn tonight at 8:30pm, however President Alvi refused to administer oaths.
Earlier, during an informal conversation with journalists, PPP leader Khurshid Shah revealed that the PML-N will have the majority in the cabinet with 14 ministries. The PPP will have 11, and the JUI-F will be given four ministries while seven positions will be allotted to other allies.
PML-N ally Qaumi Wattan Party (QWP) has expressed reservation over the delay in the swearing-in- ceremony of the cabinet. PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb earlier disclosed that the federal cabinet has been finalized and would be announced soon today.
