Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Thursday filed a petition in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against the suspension of mobile phone services in the country during the polling process.
Senior PPP leader Sherry Rehman submitted the petition to the top electoral body.
In a video shared on X, she was seen handing over the petition to the ECP official.
The development comes after the party chairman asked his party leaders to approach ECP and the court against the suspension of services.

Rehman expressed concern about the internet outage on Election Day and demanded that services be restored “urgently”.
The PPP leader said that suspending the internet services would negate democracy and the polling process.
It should be noted that mobile phone services are suspended across the country for security reasons. A day earlier, the country witnessed at least three terrorist attacks—two in Balochistan and one in Karachi—that claimed 30 lives.
After the terrorist attacks, the interim government decided to suspend mobile services, while internet services were also shut down in different parts of the country. Earlier, the government had assured that internet services would not be suspended during the polling process.
However, the bomb blasts just one day before the elections forced the government to change its mind.
