KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has lost the mayoral election with 160 votes to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Murtaza Wahab as he has been elected mayor of Sindh capital.
According to the unofficial and unofficial results of the mayoral election, PPP candidate Murtaza Wahab managed to get 173 votes required for the mayoral election. The opposite candidate of Ji Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman scored 160 votes.
Mayor Karachi was elected at the Arts Council Auditorium which was declared as a polling station. There were approximately 303 electors present at the time of the election of Mayor Karachi. The voting process for Murtaza Wahab was completed for the election of Mayor Karachi.

Later voting was held for Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman. According to the unofficial and unofficial results, Murtaza Wahab managed to get 173 votes required for the mayoral election. 30 defective PTI members did not participate in the voting.
The defected members of Tehreek-e-Insaf did not even reach the polling station. Around three PTI members including former leader of the opposition in Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi were brought in an armored vehicle for voting. Political activists also raised slogans during the voting process.
