Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) have announced a political alliance for the upcoming elections of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on July 27.
A joint press conference was held in Islamabad by leaders of PPP and JUI Azad Kashmir. PPP leader Chaudhry Yasin said that the two parties are formally announcing an electoral alliance in Azad Kashmir, adding that the partnership would benefit both sides in the region.
He said that the leadership of the PPP has consistently highlighted the Kashmir issue on all international and political forums.
Chaudhry Yasin announced that on constituencies LA-14 and LA-23, JUI candidates will contest as joint candidates of both parties.
JUI Azad Kashmir chief Maulana Saeed Yousuf said that for the first time in the region’s history, JUI has formed an alliance with the PPP.
He added that PPP will support JUI candidates in two constituencies, while JUI will support PPP candidates in all other seats.
