KARACHI: The district police today (Wednesday) claimed to have arrested an engineering diploma holder terrorist in Karachi.
According to details, the accused was arrested in a raid carried out in the B-6 area of the industrial zone located in New Karachi. The arrested accused, identified as Ahmed Karim, has confessed links with the banned outfits in the initial report.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central Malik Murtaza has informed that the arrested terrorist is a diploma holder in engineering from the NED University. He went to Afghanistan in 2013.
The raiding team has also recovered handgrenades from the possession of arrested accused. A case has been registered against the arrested accused under the Explosive Act, while further investigation was underway.
In 2015, four well-educated people, including one who had studied at two American universities, were arrested for their alleged involvement in the Safoora carnage and other terrorist attacks.
The chief of police’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Raja Umar Khattab, said that the wives of two of the arrested suspects, along with their accomplices, used to brainwash educated and rich women through sermons and videos about the militant Islamic State (IS) group and other terrorist outfits.
