ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has urged the government to impose a full lockdown countrywide to control the rising number of coronavirus cases.
While speaking to a private channel, PMA general secretary Dr Qaiser Sajjad expressed concern over the worsening coronavirus situation in the country. He said the upcoming week will be difficult for Pakistan regarding the COVID-19 situation.
He said the situation is also turning like India and micro of smart lockdown will not serve the purpose now. He said there is a need to stop the movement of the masses as it is the need of the hour and only solution to control the situation. He advised the government should consider imposing a full-fledged lockdown to reduce the number of cases down.
Pakistan has reported 201 more COVID deaths on Wednesday, the highest number in a single day since the pandemic break out in the country. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 17,530 as the government tightens restrictions.
