ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has instructed to ensure strict implementation of SOPs and undertaking all required administrative actions to implement the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curtail the spread of COVID-19 during Eid-ul-Azha.
Chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday to review COVID-19 situation in the country, PM Imran said sessions of the National Command and Operation Centre must be held to make the administrative steps more effective through cooperation and coordination with the provincial governments, according to a press statement issued PM Office.
On the occasion, officials apprised the PM about the coronavirus pandemic in the country, positive results of the smart lockdown strategy, and the strategy to check the spread of COVID-19 during Eid-ul-Adha and Muharram.
The officials informed the PM that district administrations imposed smart lockdowns at 227 locations in 30 cities across the country that yielded positive results.
The gathering was also appraised about the ineffectiveness of complete lockdown strategy implement in regional countries as death ratio augmented thereafter the lockdown was lifted over economic concerns.
The PM expressed satisfaction over positive results of efforts aimed at stemming the COVID-19 outbreak.
He said relaxation in lockdown will still require taking safety precautions. He said the war against coronavirus pandemic can be won only by staying at home and avoid unnecessary movement. The PM observed, “If people take protective steps, we can tackle the situation soon”.
