ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s top civil and military leadership will participate in a key trilateral meeting with Saudi Arabia and Türkiye in Riyadh today.
According to the Foreign Office, Pakistan’s delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

The meeting is being held under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement and will bring together the foreign ministers, defence ministers and chiefs of general staff of all three countries. Regional developments and defence cooperation will be discussed during the meeting.
The talks come at a time of heightened tensions in the region, following the announcement by Yemen’s Saudi-backed government of a major military operation against the Houthis.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that Iran proposed political engagement with the Houthis, and the proposal is expected to be discussed at the Riyadh meeting.
The Turkish delegation will include Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Defence Minister Yasar Guler and Chief of General Staff General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu.
According to the Turkish Foreign Ministry, the meeting will review recent developments in the region as well as progress towards further institutionalising the defence alliance between the three countries.
